HYDROTHERAPY

BOOST IMMUNE SYSTEM, REMOVE METABOLIC WASTE

Constitutional Hydrotherapy is used to increase the delivery of oxygen and nutrients, and boosts your immune system. At the same time it speeds the removal of metabolic wastes, inflammatory substances, and environmental toxins from the tissues by enhancing your circulation and lymph flow.

What is Hydrotherapy?

Constitutional Hydrotherapy is used to increase the delivery of oxygen and nutrients, and boosts your immune system. At the same time it speeds the removal of metabolic wastes, inflammatory substances, and environmental toxins from the tissues by enhancing your circulation and lymph flow. The warming and relaxing aspects of the treatment are used to encourage the relief of stress, and shifts your body into the “rest and digest” phase from the “fight or flight” phase.

Who benefits from the Hydros?

Hydrotherapies can benefit both acute and chronic conditions. Firstly, it manually boosts circulation throughout your body, and is awesome for patients with any circulatory issues, such as varicose veins, swelling of legs, cold hands and feet, diabetic neuropathy, etc. It also unblocks any stagnation in your body, and help with conditions such as Poly Cystic Ovarian Syndrome and Poly Cystic Kidney Disease, swollen lymph, etc.

Hydrotherapy boosts immune system function! For patients suffering from cold or flu, hydrotherapies will ramp up your immune system and body temperature so that your body can fight off the nasty bug. It also helps clear out infections or inflammatory conditions that are chronic, such as Rheumatoid Arthritis and Lyme’s.

Hydrotherapy manually shifts your body into the “rest and digest” phase called parasympathetic phase. Your nerves have two phases: the fight or flight phase (sympathetic), and the rest and digest phase (parasympathetic). Therefore, people with anxiety or insomnia from chronic stress benefit greatly from the relaxing hydrotherapy. It also promotes proper digestion function, so those with indigestion, constipation, diarrhea, or frequent stomach aches benefit greatly.

Additionally, Constitutional Hydrotherapy can be implemented in programs to help treat acute asthma, acute bladder infections, significant bleeding conditions, tachycardia, fevers, high blood pressure and mental agitation.

How is it done?

Constitutional Hydrotherapy is a combination treatment that uses hot and cold applications. There is a combined effect in the hot applications that dilate the arterial blood vessels, and the short cold application that constricts, that stimulate the muscles and nerves moving venous blood and lymph flow. This combined effect enhances the healing capacity of the body in many conditions, and is used in conjunction with other therapies.

Hot towels are applied to the chest and abdomen and back in several warm layers. When the body and skin is sufficiently warm, the hot towels are replaced with a thin cold towel that is covered with layers of wool blanket. The body quickly warms the towel. The treatment itself lasts between 25-35 minutes.

How Frequently do I need to get Treated?

This is determined by your primary care doctor. Acute cases of cold or respiratory tract infections require one or few treatments. Many chronic conditions will have treatments prescribed in a series. Constitutional Hydrotherapies are often prescribed anywhere from twice per week, to five times per week, depending on the severity of the case or the speed needed to effect change.
